Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Thoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive perioperative and longitudinal care for adult thoracic surgery patients across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.

This role works with thoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and care teams, performing advanced surgical first assisting, preoperative assessment, postoperative care, and outpatient management, while adhering to Texas regulations and evidence-based protocols.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing or PA studies.
• Licensed APRN with NASC and prescriptive authority or PA with prescriptive authority.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant surgical experience.
• Thoracic surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced surgical first assisting support during procedures.
• Perform perioperative history, physicals, and risk assessments.
• Manage postoperative care including complications and discharge planning.
• Deliver outpatient and virtual clinic assessments and coordinate care.
