Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Thoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive perioperative and longitudinal care to adult thoracic surgery patients in inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.

You will work as part of the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery team, performing surgical first assisting, preoperative evaluations, intraoperative and postoperative management, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
• Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with NASC and Prescriptive Authority.
• Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority.

Responsibilities

• Provides Advanced Surgical First Assisting Support during procedures.
• Manages perioperative and postoperative care across the continuum.
• Performs invasive bedside procedures and supports outpatient management.
• Documents and communicates clinical information in the EMR for quality outcomes.
• Supports quality, safety, and regulatory compliance through guidelines and audits.
• Participates in education, mentorship, and protocol development.
