Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Thoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive perioperative and longitudinal care for adult thoracic surgery patients. You will join a cardiovascular/ thoracic surgery team, performing advanced surgical first assisting, clinical assessment, and care coordination across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies required.
• Licensed APRN with NASC and Prescriptive Authority or PA with Prescriptive Authority.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience in surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide Advanced Surgical First Assisting Support during procedures.
• Manage perioperative and postoperative care including rounds and discharge planning.
• Perform bedside procedures (thoracentesis, chest tube management) and wound care.
• Deliver outpatient management in clinic and virtual settings.
• Document thoroughly in EMR and communicate with care teams.
