Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories in Durham, NC seeks a Medical Lab Scientist for the Central Automated Lab on the third shift (11:30 p.m.–8:00 a.m.). ASCP certification is strongly preferred. The role includes a $3.00 shift differential and a $5,000 commitment bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology required.
• ASCP certification strongly preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tests in clinical laboratories using standard techniques and equipment.
• Handle specimens and perform testing with appropriate controls and documentation.
• Operate manual or computerized instrumentation and calibrate as per SOPs.
• Process patient samples with correct ID methods to ensure accurate results.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and report shortages.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology
