Job summary

Duke Health's Central Automated Lab in Durham, NC seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to perform routine and complex tests for patient care. The role requires careful adherence to procedures, QA/QC, and instrument operation across automated platforms.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 11:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m., with rotating weekends. ASCP certification is strongly preferred, and a 3rd shift differential plus a $5,000 commitment bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in clinical lab science or related field required.
• ASCP certification preferred; others considered.
• Education/experience can be adjusted per CLIA director as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests.
• Handle specimens and operate manual and automatic analyzers.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Ensure quality control and documentation of results.
• Participate in lab inspections and regulatory compliance.
• Provide guidance to students, interns, residents, or staff as needed.
