Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to work in the Blood Bank on the second shift (Mon-Fri, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) in Durham, NC. The role performs routine and complex lab tests, maintains quality controls, and supports transfusion services.

Blood Bank/Transfusion experience and ASCP certification are strongly preferred. This position offers a second-shift differential and a $5,000 commitment bonus. Duke Health is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field is required.
• Blood Bank/Transfusion experience strongly preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests in the Blood Bank.
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance practices.
• Communicate results and issues to appropriate staff and physicians.
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation according to SOPs.
• Assist in preparation for lab inspections and proficiency testing.

Skills

Blood bank/transfusion experience

ASCP certification (preferred)

Education
