Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks Third Mates to join our fleet operating inland and coastal itineraries across the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, major rivers, and Great Lakes. The role centers on safe vessel operations, regulatory compliance, and professional leadership while you gain experience in challenging U.S.

waterways. These positions offer access to advanced training via our bridge simulator, with on-board accommodations, meals, and a commitment to high-quality guest service.

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license with 100 GRT and Near Coastal endorsement.
• TWIC credential required.
• Piloting and boat handling experience on coastal and river waterways (min 6 months, 1 year preferred).
• Self-disciplined, good grooming and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Safe launch operations in compliance with standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Stand helm, security, and gangway watches in Deckhand rotation.
• Execute vessel cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
• Support hotel and culinary teams in delivering five-star guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Maintain exemplary professional grooming and uniform appearance.
