Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced engineer to advance material testing and analysis for spaceflight systems. The role is hands-on in the lab, performing thermal tests, data interpretation, and reporting to support decision-making on design choices.

Responsibilities include planning test campaigns, ensuring ASTM alignment, and mentoring junior technicians. A BS in engineering and at least two years of thermal testing experience are required, with relocation and travel possible.

Qualifications

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of thermal testing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to author test documentation, such as plans and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain materials testing and analytical equipment (Gleeble, DSC, STA, Thermal Analysis).
  • Execute test plans according to ASTM standards, or work with other engineers to design bespoke test plans, including sample preparation, fixturing, and data reporting and analysis.
  • Document procedures, calibration steps, and test results with strong discipline and clarity, partner with engineers to validate test configurations and communicate results that inform design decisions.
  • Provide guidance to early career technicians/technical specialist on equipment setup, fabrication techniques, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct thermal analysis of metal alloys and polymeric materials.
