About Winixx
Winixx Inc. is a New York-based technology holding company operating a portfolio of over 30 SaaS platforms across freight, fleet management, financial infrastructure, and market intelligence. Founded with a mission to modernize fragmented and underserved industries, Winixx builds technology that removes inefficiencies, creates transparency, and puts more value in the hands of the people doing the actual work. Our flagship products include Winixx Freight, a next-generation load board with embedded instant payment; fleetOS, a comprehensive fleet management and roadside assistance platform; and Baron Meddy Financial, our financial infrastructure arm facilitating capital deployment, escrow, and M&A advisory across verticals. Winixx is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with remote teams operating nationwide.
Role Summary
Commercial vehicles operate in some of the most thermally demanding environments that electronic hardware can encounter — baking in direct sun on a summer asphalt highway, idling in sub‑zero winter temperatures for hours, and everything in between. The fleetOS Link telematics device must perform reliably through all of it, and the Thermal Systems Engineer is responsible for making sure it does. In this role, you will own the full thermal engineering scope for Winixx's hardware products, from early‑stage thermal modeling that shapes component placement decisions to environmental chamber testing that validates real‑world performance before a single unit ships to a customer. You will work closely with mechanical designers, PCB engineers, and product managers to ensure that thermal constraints are understood and addressed at every stage of the design process.
What You’ll Do
- Perform detailed thermal analysis and CFD simulation for all fleetOS hardware products at each stage of development, producing thermal models that accurately predict component temperatures under worst‑case operational and environmental conditions
- Define thermal design requirements for each hardware program, translating product operating temperature specifications into actionable constraints for mechanical and electrical design teams
- Design and specify passive thermal management solutions including heat spreaders, thermal interface materials, enclosure ventilation features, and component placement strategies that maintain junction temperatures within safe operating limits
- Evaluate and recommend active thermal management solutions where passive approaches are insufficient, including thermoelectric coolers or forced convection features appropriate for automotive environments
- Develop and execute comprehensive thermal validation test plans covering steady‑state operation, transient thermal events, thermal cycling durability, and combined environment testing per automotive thermal standards
- Operate and maintain environmental test chambers, thermal imaging equipment, thermocouple data acquisition systems, and related thermal measurement instrumentation
- Collaborate with PCB layout engineers during board design to optimize component placement for thermal performance, reviewing power dissipation maps and recommending layout changes that reduce hotspot temperatures
- Investigate and perform root cause analysis on thermal‑related field failures and reliability escapes, identifying the design or process root cause and developing corrective actions that prevent recurrence
- Document all thermal analyses, test protocols, test results, and design decisions in engineering reports that clearly communicate thermal performance margins and risks to the broader program team
- Build and maintain Winixx’s thermal engineering knowledge base, developing simulation templates, test procedure libraries, and thermal design guidelines that improve efficiency across future programs
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related thermal or fluid dynamics discipline; Master’s degree with thermal concentration is preferred
- 2+ years of thermal engineering experience working on electronic hardware products in automotive, consumer electronics, industrial, or telecommunications environments
- Demonstrated proficiency with at least one commercial CFD or thermal simulation tool such as ANSYS Icepak, Mentor FloTHERM, Siemens Simcenter, or equivalent
- Practical experience designing and executing environmental test plans for electronic hardware, including operation of environmental chambers, thermal shock chambers, and data acquisition systems
- Working knowledge of automotive thermal standards and test methods applicable to vehicle‑mounted electronics, including familiarity with requirements such as IEC 60068 or ISO 16750
- Strong understanding of heat transfer fundamentals including conduction, convection, and radiation, and the ability to apply these principles to predict and improve thermal performance in real hardware systems
- Experience with thermal interface material selection and characterization, including familiarity with application methods, compression behavior, and long‑term stability of TIMs in high‑temperature environments
- Proficiency in data analysis tools for processing and interpreting thermal measurement data, including Excel, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting thermal analysis results and design recommendations to multidisciplinary engineering audiences
- Experience with thermal management of automotive‑grade electronics or vehicle‑mounted telematics devices is a significant advantage
Benefits
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance bonus program tied to individual and company milestones
- Hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling
- Career growth opportunities across 30+ SaaS products and multiple verticals
- Front‑row seat at a technology company at the beginning of a major national expansion
- Collaborative, mission‑driven team environment
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Professional development and continuing education support
