About Winixx
Winixx Inc. is a New York-based technology holding company operating a portfolio of over 30 SaaS platforms across freight, fleet management, financial infrastructure, and market intelligence. Founded with a mission to modernize fragmented and underserved industries, Winixx builds technology that removes inefficiencies, creates transparency, and puts more value in the hands of the people doing the actual work. Our flagship products include Winixx Freight, a next-generation load board with embedded instant payment; fleetOS, a comprehensive fleet management and roadside assistance platform; and Baron Meddy Financial, our financial infrastructure arm facilitating capital deployment, escrow, and M&A advisory across verticals. Winixx is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with remote teams operating nationwide.
Role Summary
At Winixx, hardware is not an afterthought — it is the physical embodiment of a platform that tens of thousands of drivers and fleet operators interact with every day. As a Mechanical Design Engineer on our hardware team, you will be responsible for designing the mechanical systems and components that make the fleetOS Link telematics device, camera housings, mounting systems, and associated vehicle-mounted hardware not just functional, but durable, elegant, and manufacturable at scale. You will work at the intersection of engineering precision and real-world practicality, translating product requirements into designs that can withstand the vibration, heat, moisture, and physical abuse of commercial vehicle environments while meeting the aesthetic standards of a premium technology product. This is a role for an engineer who takes pride in the details — who understands that a poorly designed enclosure clip or an undertested mounting bracket can undermine an otherwise excellent product — and who wants to see their work shipped and deployed across a national fleet network.
What You'll Do
- Own the full mechanical design lifecycle for assigned fleetOS hardware components from concept sketch through production‑ready engineering package
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, and assembly models using SolidWorks or equivalent, maintaining design intent while accommodating manufacturing constraints
- Design mechanical enclosures, mounting brackets, cable routing systems, and connector interfaces for vehicle‑mounted hardware across multiple vehicle classes including Class 3 through Class 8 trucks
- Define and document material specifications, surface finishes, and environmental sealing requirements for each component, ensuring compliance with IP67 weatherproofing and automotive thermal cycling standards
- Collaborate daily with electrical engineers to align mechanical design with PCB layouts, connector placement, thermal dissipation zones, and antenna orientation requirements
- Participate in structured design reviews at concept, preliminary, and critical design phases, incorporating feedback from manufacturing, validation, and product teams
- Lead design‑for‑manufacture (DFM) reviews with contract manufacturers, resolving draft angles, wall thickness issues, parting line placement, and tooling feasibility before mold fabrication begins
- Generate and maintain complete design documentation packages including BOMs, engineering change orders, material declarations, and revision histories
- Build and evaluate form‑and‑fit prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, and off‑tool samples, documenting findings and driving iterative design improvements
- Support the hardware validation team during EVT, DVT, and PVT phases by providing design intent documentation and resolving test failures through root cause analysis
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain on component sourcing, alternate supplier qualification, and lead time management for mechanical components
- Maintain awareness of industry trends in automotive hardware design, IoT enclosure technology, and manufacturing process innovation
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related engineering discipline; Master's degree is a plus
- 2+ years of professional mechanical design experience working on consumer electronics, automotive accessories, or vehicle‑mounted hardware products that have shipped to production
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent parametric 3D CAD software, with demonstrated ability to create complex assemblies and manage large assembly trees
- Practical experience designing for injection molding manufacturing processes, including an understanding of draft angles, wall thickness guidelines, gate placement, parting line strategy, and design for toolability
- Working knowledge of IP rating standards (IEC 60529) and the design practices required to achieve IP67 or higher ratings in consumer‑facing hardware products
- Familiarity with automotive environmental standards including temperature cycling, humidity, salt spray, and vibration requirements applicable to vehicle‑mounted electronics
- Proficiency with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5, with the ability to create and interpret engineering drawings that communicate design intent unambiguously to manufacturing partners
- Experience conducting tolerance stack‑up analysis and applying the results to design decisions that ensure assembly fit and function across manufacturing variation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present design decisions clearly in cross‑functional design reviews
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously and deliver quality design work within program milestones
- Experience working with contract manufacturers in Asia or other international locations is a significant advantage
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance bonus program tied to individual and company milestones
- Hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling
- Career growth opportunities across 30+ SaaS products and multiple verticals
- Front‑row seat at a technology company at the beginning of a major national expansion
- Collaborative, mission‑driven team environment
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Professional development and continuing education support
