Job summary

Southern Nuclear is seeking an experienced Thermal Process Engineer II to support thermal performance analysis, equipment sizing, procurement, startup, and field support for simple-cycle and combined-cycle power projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong thermodynamics, mass and energy balances, heat balance modeling, and experience with major rotating and heat-transfer equipment.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 7–10 years of related engineering experience
• Experience with simple-cycle and combined-cycle power generation
• Strong thermodynamics and heat balance calculations
• Proficiency with Excel and office software

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal analysis of simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants
• Develop mass and thermal balances for new and retrofit projects
• Run heat balance models using Thermoflow or GateCycle or similar software
• Size major rotating and heat-transfer equipment
• Prepare technical reports, specs, calculations, and procurement docs
• Support equipment procurement and vendor evaluations
