Job summary

Antares is seeking a Thermal-Mechanical Engineer II to own heat movement and thermal budget for the Power Conversion System. Role involves sizing heat rejection, insulation, instrumentation, and thermal interfaces across PCS components, reactor and safety systems.

You will work on high-temperature hardware, test rigs, and startup commissioning, ensuring life-limited hardware is managed with robust maintenance plans and data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of full-cycle engineering experience at Engineer II level.
• Experience performing thermal analysis (hand calcs, FEA/CFD) to size/configure hardware.
• Experience designing thermal management hardware for high-temp systems; insulation, heat-loss budgets.

Responsibilities

• Own thermal management and thermal energy budget of the Power Conversion System.
• Develop heat rejection and cold-sink architecture; size and integrate the recuperator.
• Define thermal configuration including insulation, heat-loss budget, surface temperatures, instrumentation and protection.
• Manage thermal interfaces and transient requirements for major PCS components, reactor, and safety systems.
• Support test rigs and instrumentation; use data to improve component life and performance.
• Engineer high-temp, high-stress components using metals and advanced materials.
• Develop inspection and maintenance plans to manage thermal life risk.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, and Nuclear teams to meet objectives.
