Job summary

BLOC Resources is seeking an experienced Major Equipment Procurement / Thermal Process Engineer 2 to support Southern Company at its Waynesboro, GA location. The role covers thermal and process engineering for simple-cycle and combined-cycle plants, major rotating equipment, heat-transfer equipment, and equipment procurement.

The successful candidate will perform thermal analyses, develop heat and mass balances, size major equipment, and prepare engineering reports and technical specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 7–10 years of related engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years applying thermodynamics in an engineering environment.
• Experience supporting simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants.
• Experience sizing major rotating equipment and heat-transfer equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal analysis of power generation plants.
• Develop and evaluate mass and thermal balances for plant systems and equipment.
• Size major equipment for both new and retrofit power generation projects.
• Prepare engineering reports and technical specifications.
• Provide field engineering support and startup assistance at plant sites.
