Job summary

Fermilab in Batavia, IL, seeks an experienced Mechanical Thermal Fluids Engineer to plan, research, and develop large thermal systems for the accelerator complex in full compliance with DOE orders and safety standards.

You will design, procure, install, test, and operate thermal systems, lead technicians and drafters, and coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure reliable performance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 4+ years of engineering experience.
• Master’s or PhD in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 2+ years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, research, and develop large engineering projects for thermal fluid systems.
• Design, procure, fabricate, install, test, and operate thermal systems in DOE-regulated environments.
• Lead drafting, vendor communication, and coordination with technicians and engineers.
• Perform fluid piping design, heat transfer analysis, and piping network calculations.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings and manage project costs and schedules.
