Job summary

Fermilab seeks a Mechanical Thermal Fluids Engineer to plan, research, and develop major engineering projects for the accelerator complex. You will lead design, procurement, manufacture, installation, testing, and operation of thermal systems while ensuring compliance with DOE orders and safety standards.

Responsibilities include hydraulics and heat transfer analyses, troubleshooting, upgrades for reliability, and coordinating with draftsmen, technicians, and vendors.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (B.S. or higher) with 4+ years experience.
• Master's or PhD in engineering with 2+ years.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and specify fluid piping systems for cooling of accelerator components.
• Lead design, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and operation phases.
• Review progress and manage technicians and engineers on projects.
• Prepare fabrication specs involving welding, brazing, bonding, and soldering.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and fabricators while ensuring DOE order compliance.
