Job summary

Fermilab is seeking a Senior Process Piping Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and implement fluid cooling piping systems for accelerator operations. You will lead flange-to-field work, coordinate with vendors, and ensure reliability through thermal-fluid design and system upgrades.

Expertise in CAD modeling, ANSYS/FEA, welding/brazing, and materials knowledge is essential. Onsite work at Batavia campus with collaboration across teams worldwide.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required with 8+ years of engineering experience or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Demonstrated ability to perform fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and piping calculations.
• Experience with 3D modeling, 2D drawings, CAD, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, procure, fabricate, install, test and operate fluid cooling piping systems for accelerator operations.
• Lead mechanical-system design and piping flow/heat transfer analyses; troubleshoot and upgrade systems for reliability.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, technicians, and vendors; prepare clear specifications and drawings.
