Fermilab in Batavia, IL seeks a Senior Process Piping Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and manage piping systems for accelerator operations. You will use ANSYS, CAD tools, and 3D modeling to develop, test, and implement robust solutions in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 8+ years of engineering experience.
• Master's in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 6+ years of engineering experience.
• Ability to prepare and document engineering calculations and create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, piping network calculations and statics, stress, strain, and deflection.

Responsibilities

• Utilize mechanical engineering concepts from design through review, procurement, fabrication, installation, test, and operation.
• Design and analyze fluid cooling piping systems supporting accelerator operation.
• Lead mechanical-system design, thermal-fluid design, and piping flow analyses.
• Troubleshoot operating systems and design upgrades to improve reliability.
• Create and read P&IDs and piping flow schematics.
• Direct drafters, designers, technicians, and trades on projects.
