Job summary

Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a full-time Therapist to deliver domestic violence services to Shelter residents and community clients. The role includes individual and group therapy, assessments, advocacy and support planning, with supervision by the Director of Clinical Services.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant field, is licensed or license-eligible, and can collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Clinical licensure or eligible (LCSW, LMFT, LPC).

• Able to multi-task and prioritize; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems and other software.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.

Job description

Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Therapist. The Therapist is responsible for conducting the delivery of domestic violence services to residents of Shelter and other Clinical Services clients.

The Therapist will deliver individual assessments, individual and group therapy, advocacy and support planning services to clients enrolled in the Shelter or Housing programs as needed, as well as clients living in the community. As needed, this position will also provide consultation, education and information to other professionals in the agency, and/or other community providers, regarding domestic violence, trauma and mental health issues as they relate to those who have or are experiencing violence in their lives. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Services.

• Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures, while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing principles of trauma-informed care and accessibility; demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.
• Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self‑care.
• Attend scheduled staff, team and supervision meetings; participate in all required trainings.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience providing therapy/counseling sessions, preferably in a domestic violence agency/residential setting and/or commensurate experience.
• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work.
• Clinical licensure or approved license eligible (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT; Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC)
• Able to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Able to multi‑task and prioritize; able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Hours

Full-time, exempt position. This position requires a flexible work schedule (average of 40 hours per week), primarily Monday through Friday days and two evenings per week to accommodate participant’s schedules. Participation in an on‑call rotation is required, approximately one week/weekend every ten weeks, providing phone‑based consultation and support to shelter staff as needed. No onsite response is required for on‑call duties.

Compensation and Benefits

This position falls into a range starting at $59,000 annually (exempt) and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
