Job summary

Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at-risk youth. The Activities Coordinator will design and facilitate therapeutic recreational activities to support emotional, cognitive, and social development of youth in a residential setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in recreational or play therapy.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and coordinate structured recreation and leisure activities.
• Use intervention modalities such as creative arts, sports, dance/movement, adventure programming, and leisure education.
• Provide recreational programming during non-traditional hours to promote pro-social behavior.
• Assess youth capabilities, interests, and needs; adjust activities based on progress and goals.
• Consult with clinicians, physicians, and treatment teams to align recreational goals with treatment plans.
• Participate in care planning and team meetings.
• Design instructional strategies and community reintegration activities to build skills and confidence.
• Tailor programs to meet individual youth learning styles, emotional needs, and physical abilities.
• Apply clinical knowledge to support individualized goal achievement.
• Document treatment progress in accordance with plans of care.
