Job summary

University of Michigan in Flint seeks student ushers to support live theatre events on-site. You will guide patrons to seats, hand out programs, enforce policies, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment during performances.

Candidates must be enrolled as UM Flint students; prior ushering or customer service experience is helpful but not required. Training is provided on the job, and attendance is onsite for events only.

• Voice or video recording is not granted
• Safely evacuating people in case of an emergency.
• Cleaning the Theatre after guest have departed.
• Communicating with guest and making them feel comfortable.

Job description

Direct patrons to their seats and venue facilities. Open and close the House as needed. Observe patron activity in the House during events and enforce policy as needed. Ushers get to watch the event for free (but may not be guaranteed a seat).

Required Qualifications*

• Must be a student enrolled at the University of Michigan-Flint. Position open to all majors.

Desired Qualifications*

• An interest in theatre and/or live event production.
• Any level of experience with customer service, ushering, and performance venues is preferred but not required. You will be trained on the job.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
