Job summary

CCBC seeks a Theatre Director Adjunct to direct one of its academic productions, overseeing casting, rehearsal, design, and the run of the show. The role collaborates with Theatre Faculty to select a play or musical for the season and to ensure artistic integrity throughout the process.

Adjunct faculty will run evening and weekend rehearsals, attend department meetings, prepare materials and grades, and coordinate activities with the Program Director or Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Dance, or Performing Arts required.
• Directing/choreography experience in collegiate settings preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities essential.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Prior college teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conceive and communicate an artistic concept for the production.
• Coordinate artistic aspects with production team to ensure unity.
• Be responsible to the Discipline Coordinator and Department Chair for artistic quality.
• Attend all audition times and callbacks.
• Cast the production with input from the team and faculty.
• Attend weekly production meetings to coordinate all aspects.
• Manage design elements, cues, costumes, props, and publicity timelines.
• Supervise the Stage Manager and clarify responsibilities.
• Coordinate rehearsal time and space with the Office of Performing Arts.
• Assist in posting publicity photographs when required.
• Meet with Musical Director, Conductor and Choreographer beforehand for continuity.
• Research to ensure historical integrity of the production.
• Conduct rehearsals professionally to optimize students' time.
• Maintain professional morale and lead by example.

Theatre Director will direct one of CCBC’s academic theatreproductions. Directors will collaborate with the Theatre Faculty toselect a play/musical for the academic theatre season, then overseethe casting, rehearsal, design, and run of the production.

Theatre Director Adjunct faculty are needed to run evening and/orweekend rehearsals at the Community College of Baltimore County.Adjunct faculty will be expected to facilitate learning viapreparation and delivery of instruction, cooperation with Collegesupport staff in timely submission of materials and grades asrequired and, coordination of activities with the Program Directoror Coordinator. Adjunct faculty will be selected based on program needsand subject matter expertise of the applicant. Adjunct faculty arerequired to attend department meetings, participate in professionaldevelopment related to classroom instruction and pedagogy, beavailable to students outside of class and, assist in maintainingprogram accreditation.

Adjunct Level 1: $1,085 per credit hour

Campus Locations: Catonsville or Essex

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Dance, or Performing Arts
• Two (2) years directing/choreography experience, preferably incollegiate settings
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Proficient computer skills and MicroSoft applicationsknowledge
• Prior college teaching experience preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

1. Be responsible for conceiving and communicating an artisticconcept of his/her production.
2. Work cooperatively with the production team to coordinate allartistic aspects of the production in order to insure unity.
3. Be ultimately responsible to the Discipline Coordinator andDepartment Chair for the artistic quality of the production and theintegrity of the academic experience for the students.
4. Be prepared and present at all audition times and callbacksessions.
5. Cast the production in cooperation and consultation (ifnecessary) with other members of the professional production team,theatre faculty and staff.
6. Be prepared and attend weekly production meetings with theProduction Team to coordinate all aspects of the production. (i.e.props, sounds cues, special effects requirements, costumes,pre-show and intermission music if necessary).
7. Follow all set deadlines for final approvals in designelements: scenery, lighting, costumes, props, program and publicityinformation.
8. Supervise the Stage Manager and see that he/she understandshis/her responsibilities as listed in the job description.
9. Work in cooperation with the Office of Performing Arts inscheduling rehearsal time and space.
10. Be present and prepared to assist in the posting of photographsfor the publicity picture call.
11. Meet with the Musical Director, Conductor and Choreographer(for musicians) in advance of the first rehearsal to make anymusical or choreographic considerations that insure artisticcontinuity of the production.
12. Be responsible for adequate research to insure the historicalintegrity of the production.
13. Be prepared and responsible for conducting all rehearsals in aprofessional manner that makes the most efficient use of thestudent actor’s and production team/staff’s time.
14. Strive to maintain company morale and set a professionalexample for students at all times.
