Responsibilities

  • Implement Monarch Integrated Mythology to strengthen relationships with students.
  • Support student growth in the four core goals of the Monarch School.
  • Learn and implement the Monarch Integrated Methodology; collaborate with Therapy Services and Therapeutic Support faculty.
  • Collaborate on development and implementation of student treatment plans.
  • Learn curriculum models as directed (e.g., social mapping, cognitive coaching, DIR®, sensory integration).
  • Implement instructional strategies and programs as directed by academic leadership.
  • Plan lessons addressing individual differences and learning styles.
  • Support and coordinate students’ therapeutic agenda with Leadership Team.
  • Report student progress in designated formats at set intervals.
  • Supervise students during lunch, carpool, and off-campus activities.
  • Facilitate a Student Committee if assigned.
  • Support extracurricular and social events beyond the school day.
  • Collaborate with Program Director to set yearly goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional education.
  • Know and reference Faculty & Parent/Student Handbooks.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services; perform other duties.

Overview

The Monarch School and Institute is dedicated to providing an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differences—such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, Tourette syndrome, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury, and seizure disorders. We offer a learner-centered approach that helps students progress in four core goal areas.

Requirements and Education
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Teaching Certification to meet state requirements – the certificate is to be uploaded with your application.
    • Certification in Special Education – the certificate is to be uploaded with your application.
    • Certification in grade‑appropriate Elementary Education – the certificate is to be uploaded with your application.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Teacher with sufficient time spent in teaching special education (preferred).
Responsibilities
  • Implement the Monarch Integrated Mythology to strengthen relationship development with all students.
  • Support student growth in each of the four core goals of The Monarch School.
  • Learn and implement the Monarch Integrated Methodology and collaborate with Therapy Services department and Therapeutic Support faculty to ensure consistent language, actions and experiences that support students’ therapeutic needs.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of student treatment plans.
  • Learn curriculum models as directed (e.g., social mapping, cognitive coaching, relationship development (DIR®), sensory integration, reflective teaching, problem based learning, and academic focus areas).
  • Implement instructional strategies and programs as directed by academic leadership.
  • Plan and implement lessons that address individual differences and student learning styles.
  • Support and coordinate students’ therapeutic agenda in coordination with Leadership Team.
  • Report student progress in designated formats at specific intervals in a timely manner.
  • Appropriately support and supervise students/learners at all times.
  • Supervise lunch, carpool, off‑campus activities and community/Greenstones meetings as scheduled or as necessary.
  • Facilitate a Student Committee, if assigned.
  • Build Monarch community by supporting extracurricular and/or social events beyond the school day.
  • Cooperate with Program Director to set and attain yearly goals.
  • Participate in continuing professional education for the improvement of the school as directed by the Program Director.
  • Be knowledgeable about and able to reference the Faculty Handbook and Parent/Student Handbook.
  • Punctually attend and actively participate in staff meetings, faculty meetings, and in‑services as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Working conditions involve a wide variety of challenges and deadlines. The best candidate should perform well under pressure, think logically, remain calm, and be a great problem solver. The position is emotionally rewarding and provides opportunities for positive effects, but it can be stressful at times. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, frequent standing, kneeling, stooping, bending, and moving classroom equipment and adaptive equipment.
