Job summary

Victoria College is seeking a full-time Testing Specialist I to assist in coordinating and administering testing and assessment programs, ensuring policies are followed and exams are properly managed.

The position is benefits eligible and located at Victoria College in Victoria, Texas, serving instructors and students across multiple testing entities and programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Must have effective interpersonal, oral, and written skills, and be able to work some Saturdays and evenings.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel highly desirable.
  • Some travel is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers exams for Victoria College instructors as scheduled.
  • Schedules, receives, stores, administering, and securing exams for instructors.
  • Monitors adapted tests for students with disabilities and coordinates with Academic/Disability Advisor.
  • Administers and schedules specialized tests (TSI, PSI, TCFP, DSST, TCOLE, CLEP, Scantron) and ensures compliance with testing standards.
  • Administers Pearson VUE exams and serves as a Test Proctor per ACE standards.
  • Administers Correspondence exams and ensures proper handling and mailing of exams.
  • Assists with departmental credit-by-exams administration and returns of exams.
  • Administers Virtual College of Texas exams and coordinates with other colleges/universities.
  • Develops annual goals, objectives, and assessment methods for all areas of responsibility.
  • Attends conferences to stay current with testing standards and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Testing and the Vice President of Student Services.
  • Will access student records and follow FERPA guidelines.

The Testing Department is recruiting for one full time Testing Specialist I. This position assists in the coordination and administration of the testing and assessment programs at The Victoria College. Ensures proper policies and procedures are followed in the administration of tests.

This position is benefits eligible.

  1. Administers exams for Victoria College instructors as scheduled; responsible for scheduling, receiving, storing, administering, and securing exams for instructors.
  2. Monitor adapted tests for students with disabilities; work directly with Academic/Disability Advisor on compliance and scheduling of examinations; responsible for scheduling, receiving, storing, administering, and securing exams for instructors.
  3. Assists with administering and scheduling all specialized tests such as TSI, PSI, TCFP, DSST, TCOLE, CLEP and Scantron; responsible for ensuring that Victoria College complies with all testing standards set by each testing entity; keep faculty abreast of test changes affecting the credit by examination program.
  4. Assists with administering the Pearson VUE exams; serves as a Test Proctor; assists in ensuring that Victoria College complies with Pearson VUE testing standards set by the American Council on Education including specialized testing for students with disabilities for both on and off campus testing.
  5. Assists with administering Correspondence exams; assists with receiving, storing, administering and mailing exams; responsible for complying with corresponding university/college testing standards so as to ensure validity of test.
  6. Assists with administering departmental credit by examinations; assist with receiving, storing, administering, and returning exams.
  7. Assists with administering Virtual Colleges of Texas exams; assist with scheduling, receiving, storing, administering, and returning exams to appropriate colleges and/or universities.
  8. Develops annual goals, objectives, and assessment methods for all areas of responsibility; assists in preparation of annual budget based upon goals and objectives.
  9. Attends conferences to keep abreast of current testing standards and requirements.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Testing and the Vice President of Student Services.
  11. This position will access student records at times and will follow all FERPA guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to20-50 pounds while loading office supplies, paper and test packets. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
