Job summary

Aurora University is seeking a Testing Services Assistant in the Academic Support Center (ASC) to staff the front desk, proctor exams, and ensure ADA accommodations and testing specifications are followed while upholding academic integrity.

The role may also assist in scheduling exams, consulting with professors and students, and working with the Testing Services Coordinator to compile data on Testing Services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Customer service and general office experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft and Apple operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality customer service, reception, and assistance for all student and visitors to Testing Services.
  • Proctors tests ensuring a secure testing environment and academic integrity.
  • Works directly with the Director of ASC concerning policies, testing procedures, accommodations, and handling of test materials.
  • Maintains security of all testing materials at all times.
  • Reports cheating and potential academic integrity immediately.
  • Extended schedule required during finals week.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Director, the Testing ServicesAssistant in the Academic Support Center (ASC) provides coverage atthe front desk of Testing Services. The Testing Services Assistantis the primary proctor in the ASC testing center, ensuring thatexams are administered meeting the students’ approved ADAaccommodations and/or the testing specifications designated by theinstructor, while maintaining academic integrity. The Assistant mayalso assist in scheduling exams, consulting with professors andstudents as to exam scheduling, and working with the TestingServices Coordinator to compile data on Testing Services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures students comply with all department testingpolicies.
  • Reports cheating and potential academic integrityimmediately.
  • Serves as a reader and/or scribe, if required by testingaccommodations.
  • Recognizes a strict standard of confidentiality applies to anystudent receiving accommodations in connection with adisability.
  • When necessary, communicates with faculty members to confirmtesting procedures and expectations.
  • Extended schedule required during finals week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
Experience:
  • Customer service and general office experience, preferably inan educational setting.
Skills:
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft and Apple operatingsystems.
  • Sound judgment and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communicationskills.
  • Quick learner with great prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be dependable.
  • Ability to accept divergent views while maintaining aconstructive working relationship with other team members.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work with a computer for long periods of theday.
  • Ability to attend off campus meetings.
  • Office setting, standing, walking, sitting.
Work Hours:
  • Expected equivalent of 20 hours per week, but days/hours mayvary as needed. Hybrid or work from home employment will beconsidered if candidate can demonstrate ability to fulfill thisrole effectively off-site.
