Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Review courses after development to identify and resolve issues before/during delivery.
  • Ensure accessibility alignment with ADA standards across materials and LMS content.
  • Provide live-term faculty support for instructional design and course delivery changes.
  • Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, departments, and tech partners to support course delivery.

Position Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instructional Mediaand Course Support Specialist to join our team. This role willsupport instructional media creation, post-development coursereview, accessibility alignment, and live-term faculty support foronline and technology-enhanced courses. The ideal candidate willhave experience or relevant training in creating and editinginstructional media, reviewing courses for quality and usability,identifying and resolving course issues, and supporting facultywith instructional design updates during active terms.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Media Creation: Edit videos, update captions, and createimages and graphics to enhance course content. Experience withvideo editing tools and Adobe Creative Cloud applications is aplus.
  • Post-Development Course Review: Review courses afterdevelopment to identify and resolve routine broken links,copy-editing issues, LMS functionality concerns, and assessmentsetup issues, and identify or elevate third-party integrationproblems before and during course delivery.
  • Accessibility and ADA Support: Review course materialsand media for alignment with ADA and accessibility standards,including accessible formatting, captions, alternative text,readable document structure, and overall usability forstudents.
  • Live-Term Faculty Support: Respond to faculty supportrequests and tickets related to instructional design and coursedelivery issues, including broken links, assessment updates,content revisions, accessibility concerns, and other changes neededduring active terms.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, instructionaldesigners, academic departments, and technology partners to supporteffective course delivery and address course-related needs.
Essential Job Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS platforms.
  • Experience with development of on-campus, hybrid and onlinecourses.
  • Experience with video editing software and Adobe Creative Cloudapplications.
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, quick, and agile in a fast-pacedenvironment.
  • Experience with media creation tools, video editing,captioning, and/or graphic creation.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot routinecourse design, LMS, accessibility, and technical issues, with thejudgment to elevate more complex concerns when appropriate.
  • Strong faculty support skills, including the ability to respondprofessionally to support tickets and time-sensitive courserequests.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiplepriorities and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with accessibility best practices for online coursematerials, instructional media, and LMS content.
  • Relevant experience may be gained through employment,internships, student employment, academic projects, or othercomparable settings.
