Job description

Overview

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, Assessment, and Credit for Prior Learning, the Testing Center Specialist will provide professional, consistent, and secure testing services to Rowan‑Cabarrus Community College students and community members. The role requires collaboration with faculty, staff, administration, and vendors to deliver efficient services. This is a part‑time position of approximately 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling, including morning, afternoon, evening, and rotating Saturday shifts.

The position is primarily located at North Campus. The specialist must be willing to travel to other campus locations as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Administer, score, and record the results of a variety of testing instruments, including entrance and placement exams, career and vocational assessments, and related tests.
  • Provide customer service to new, former, and current students, including assistance with testing sign‑up, accommodation arrangements, monitoring testing rooms for misconduct, and related activities.
  • Perform administrative support activities for testing center operations, such as updating files and databases, scheduling testing appointments, responding to testing inquiries, answering telephones, and related tasks.
  • Prepare records and reports related to student testing activities.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Pearson VUE certification preferred.
  • Experience with administration of placement testing preferred.
  • Experience with online appointment scheduling preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage conflict calmly and professionally.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all student and/or community member testing matters.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
