Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an engineer to support the development, construction, operation and maintenance of test facilities in Kent. This hands-on role combines engineering and project management to support testing components and systems used across Blue Origin business units.

The candidate will design and operate test facilities, develop plans, lead test operations, and troubleshoot complex fluid and instrumentation systems, with focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in the design, development, or operation of test facilities or similar experimental research facilities.
• Knowledge of fluids; cryogenic and monopropellants preferred.
• Ability to understand complex systems, investigate and solve challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment.
• Analytical orientation and safety mindset.
• Work well under pressure and take initiative to improve existing systems, processes, and documentation.
• Ability to support weekend and second shift as needed to meet customer demands.
• Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, fabricate, install and operate hydrostatic, fluid flow, propellant, pneumatic, or cryogenic test facilities.
• Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform data reduction and reviews.
• Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, coordinate with internal customers.
• Understand and troubleshoot fluid and instrumentation systems.
• Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations.
• Plan and oversee facility maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.
• Design, procure and install system components; manage vendors and subcontractors.
