Job summary

Leidos seeks a Test Engineer to design and support automated test systems for a government contract in the National Capital Region. You will connect bench instrumentation, write automation in Python and LabVIEW, and develop repeatable, calibrated test data around a Device Under Test (DUT).

You will configure HIL environments, build operator GUIs, and train staff while engaging with customers to refine testing capabilities and support business development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (or Master’s with 6–10 years); or 12 years of work experience in lieu of degree.
• Hands-on experience building automated test systems around a DUT, not just testing software.
• Experience with bench test equipment from Agilent, Keysight, HP, Tektronix, and National Instruments (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, signal generators).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document systems, train others, and work directly with customers.

Responsibilities

• Take a customer-designed DUT and determine what must be proven about it.
• Connect and configure bench instrumentation to the DUT.
• Write custom test automation and analysis software in Python and/or LabVIEW.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments and simulations.
• Build operator-facing GUIs for the DUT test setup.
• Establish and validate repeatable, calibrated, NIST-traceable data.
• Maintain and improve automated test systems, fixtures, and instrument drivers.
• Support configuration management for test software and system architecture.
• Train engineers and technicians on running the automated test systems you build.
• Engage with customers to understand testing needs and support business development.
