Job summary

Toptal is seeking a hands-on HILS Software Test Engineer to join a production software and systems team. The role focuses on turning manual test procedures into robust automated tests and running them on a Hardware-in-the-Loop rig using the dSPACE toolchain.

Onsite position requiring collaboration with hardware and software teams to write Python automation, configure production electronics, and build credible test coverage for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in software testing or development.
• Experience with the dSPACE suite of software tools.
• Fluency in Python.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL/HILS) test integration and automation scripting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate requirements into technical implementation.

Responsibilities

• Adapt manual testing procedures into fully automated ones.
• Manage software configuration on hardware systems under test.
• Integrate hardware under test with HILS test equipment.
• Write new software testing procedures from stakeholder requirements.
• Implement automated testing processes using HILS software tools and Python scripting.
• Manually operate production electronics as part of testing workflows.
• Track and manage test coverage against requirements as automation develops.
