Territory Sales Manager - Midwest Region

Role Overview

Shifman Mattress Company is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Territory Sales Manager to drive business growth within the Midwest region (IL, IN, KS, OH, MI, MN, NE, WI, ND, SD). This is a remote role that requires frequent travel within the assigned territory (80%, including some overnight stays).

The ideal candidate will be a proactive sales leader with experience in premium product sales, retail partnerships, and business development. They will be responsible for managing key accounts, driving new business, providing exceptional customer support, and executing strategies that maximize sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales & Business Development
  2. Cultivate and expand relationships with key retail partners to drive revenue and long-term growth.
  3. Identify and secure new business opportunities within the territory.
  4. Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company and retailer goals.
  5. Meet or exceed sales targets at both account and territory levels.
  6. Analyze sales data to identify trends, optimize performance, and prioritize store visits.
  7. Implement Co-op advertising programs to boost foot traffic and sales.
  8. Conduct product training sessions for retail staff to enhance their selling capabilities.
  9. Lead training events across various formats, including one-on-one, small groups, and large audiences.
  10. Communicate product promotions, new launches, and upcoming events to retailers.
  11. Partner with retailers to develop customized business solutions.

Strategic Planning & Collaboration

  1. Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, operations, leadership) to ensure smooth execution of sales initiatives.
  2. Align with retailers on business objectives to foster strong relationships.
  3. Provide market feedback and insights to inform business strategies.

Problem-Solving & Adaptability

  1. Act as a resourceful problem solver, providing tools, training, and strategies to retailers.
  2. Adapt quickly to market changes and develop proactive solutions.
  3. Maintain a customer-first approach, ensuring top-tier service and support.

Qualifications

  • Proven success in sales, exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience in retail sales, national accounts, or luxury product categories (furniture, mattresses, or high-end goods preferred).
  • Ability to motivate and train retail sales staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, capable of managing a large multi-state territory independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays for sales events (4 sales and 4 holiday events).

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel 80% within the territory, including overnight stays.
