Job summary

Berkley Management Protection in Southern California is seeking a Territory Manager to lead marketing efforts for its management liability products across the California market, coordinating resources with underwriting and senior leadership.

This role focuses on growing the private company management liability lines, building agent relationships, and driving distribution and sales strategies in a fast-paced, external-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years insurance marketing experience.
• Must reside in Southern California
• Good organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively prioritize workload
• Demonstrated depth in negotiation, sales and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work with multi-faceted systems.
• Ability to effectively and independently manage complex workload while exhibiting very sound judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with agents and other departments while exemplifying superior teamwork.
• Ability to travel in assigned territory - 60% agency engagement/ travel- this is an external facing role with a combination of in person and virtual agency appointments with a strong emphasis to meet face to face whenever possible

Responsibilities

• Establish strong relationships with agents in driving mutually beneficial results through agency planning, production and growth
• Manage distribution and negotiate agency appointment agreements
• Monitor competitors' offerings and emerging industry issues
• Influence the structure of the region to capitalize on the strengths of the individual team members
• Work with regional and senior leadership team to develop and drive underwriting and business strategies within region and nationally

Responsibilities

This position is the marketing focal point for Berkley Management Protection in the Southern California Territory. Designated to coordinate resources and expertise in meeting and exceeding results in that state or territory. All agency management and distribution strategies and tactics will be implemented by the Territory Manager. The Territory Manager will report directly to the AVP and will also collaborate with underwriting. The Territory Manager position works with the AVP & RVP in managing agency distribution and executing growth, profit and relationship building.

• Base Salary Range: $20k-$180k depending on sales, marketing and Management Liability UW experience.
