Job summary

Berkley Management Protection, part of the Grove platform, seeks a Territory Manager to drive growth in management liability across a designated state or territory. You will coordinate with leadership and underwriting to expand agency partnerships and increase profitability.

The role focuses on growing private company lines, establishing sales culture, and building strong agent relationships. A four-year degree and 5+ years in insurance marketing are expected, with significant travel required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years insurance marketing experience.
• Demonstrated negotiation, sales and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work with multi-faceted systems.
• Ability to travel in assigned territory – 60% travel; external facing role with face-to-face appointments.

Responsibilities

The Territory Manager is the marketing focal point for Berkley Management Protection within an assigned state or territory, coordinating resources and expertise to meet and exceed results. This role executes agency management and distribution strategies and works closely with leadership and underwriting to drive growth, profit, and relationship building.

• Grow the private company management liability lines of business in assigned territory.
• Work closely with the Assistant Vice President to establish and implement a sales culture.
• Establish strong relationships with agents in driving mutually beneficial results through agency planning, production and growth.
• Manage distribution and negotiate agency appointment agreements.
• Monitor competitors’ offerings and emerging industry issues.
• Influence the structure of the region to capitalize on the strengths of the individual team members.
• Work with regional and senior leadership team to develop and drive underwriting and business strategies within region and nationally.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years insurance marketing experience.
• Good organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively prioritize workload.
• Demonstrated depth in negotiation, sales and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work with multi-faceted systems.
• Ability to effectively and independently manage complex workload while exhibiting very sound judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with agents and other departments while exemplifying superior teamwork.
• Ability to travel in assigned territory – 60% agency engagement/travel; this is an external facing role with a combination of in person and virtual agency appointments with a strong emphasis to meet face to face whenever possible.

Education Requirement

• Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Ideal location is Portland OR or Seattle WA

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:

• Base Salary Range: 160k-$180k
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
