Job summary

Cedar Insurance Company is seeking experienced business development and distribution professionals to grow our independent agent and broker network, focusing on workers' compensation for healthcare and senior living, with opportunities to expand into additional industries. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Underwriting & Operations.

You will develop a geographic territory, activate broker relationships, generate submissions, and partner with underwriting to convert

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in workers' compensation, commercial P&C, business development and broker relations.
Established broker/agent relationships with the ability to generate quality business.
Strong understanding of workers' compensation products and underwriting.
Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and CRM skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a territory.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain relationships with brokers and agents.
Generate workers’ compensation submissions and new business opportunities.
Recruit new brokers that fit Cedar’s underwriting appetite. Manage opportunities from initial broker engagement through submission, quote, and binding.
Manage opportunities from initial contact through submission, quote, and binding.
Maintain regular broker communication through calls, visits, and industry events.
Maintain an accurate pipeline and business development activity in the CRM.
Track pipeline, submissions, bound premium, and broker activity in the CRM.
Work closely with underwriting to improve opportunities and submission quality.
