Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Workers Compensation Production Underwriter. This individual contributor role manages an assigned agency territory and an underwriting book of business, focusing on profitable growth, renewal retention, and strong customer service.

You will lead new business development, risk selection, pricing, and agency relationship management within delegated authority, collaborating with underwriting leadership, internal teams, and agency partners to execute

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• 3–5 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, workers compensation preferred.
• Experience managing agency relationships and pipelines.
• Professional insurance designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Owns an assigned agency territory and book of business with profitable new business and renewal retention.
• Evaluates submissions using class codes, exposures, payroll, loss runs, and risk characteristics.
• Makes underwriting decisions within authority; escalates risks as needed.
• Prices new/renewal business following guidelines to balance growth and profitability.
• Develops agency partnership plans and manages production goals and profitability.
• Conducts regular agency visits and producer meetings to align strategy and commitments.
• Identifies opportunities to expand workers compensation production through distribution channels.
• Presents proposals to agency personnel with clear underwriting rationale.
• Maintains knowledge of territory, competition, and regulatory trends.
• Collaborates with claims, loss control, audit, and operations to support portfolio quality.
