Job description

The Territory Development Manager is responsible for being the expert on Murrelektronik products, managing daily business operations, and driving growth within their assigned territory. This role requires deep knowledge of applications, competitors, product trends, industry dynamics, and market information to achieve sales targets.

The TDM will expand Murrelektronik's business by acquiring new customers, enhancing relationships with existing customers, and supporting channel partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prospect for new customers and penetrate new target accounts to assist in growth.
  • Sell Murrelektronik automation products and solutions by developing and managing assigned territory to achieve territory sales target
  • Visit potential and existing customers in the territory for consultation, evaluation of opportunity, and demonstration of solutions
  • Use solid technical knowledge to get Murrelektronik products and solutions specified on customer equipment.
  • Develop an annual sales plan with target lists and action items to penetrate OEMs, machine builders, panel builders, integrators, and end users who build their own equipment
  • Serve as the main point of contact for direct Murrelektronik customers in your assigned territory and provide all necessary sales/technical support.
  • Develop annual sales forecast based on knowledge of projects for direct customers, key customers, and distribution channels.
  • In conjunction with sales and product management, develop marketing plans specific for the territory and/or channel partners (i.e., sales blitzes, competitions, etc.).
  • Identify and evaluate all avenues of product distribution (online resellers, integrators, distribution) within your territory to fill gaps and grow territory sales.
  • Manage existing channel partners and act as the main point of contact for channel salespeople.
  • Enter and track activities, specifically customer activity and opportunity information in CRM (Salesforce).
  • Provide feedback to technical support and product managers on existing products and information about opportunities and needs for product development.
  • Participate in sales calls with the Regional Sales Manager and other members of the Murrelektronik team
  • Attend sales meetings as required, generally twice a year nationally and once a year regionally
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Prospecting for new business
  • Strong demonstrable technical background.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and possess the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team- oriented, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others to set goals and resolve problems; ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary.
  • Ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of the Customer to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, effectively prioritize workload, and be committed to continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to think strategically both short-term and long-term.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation sales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good organizational skills to manage a variety of different tasks.
  • Extensive knowledge of PC and Windows-based software to include Microsoft Office products.
Additional Requirements:
  • This position requires customer visits and up to 40% overnight travel, depending on the assigned territory.
  • Domestic and international travel is required in the role.
  • International travel clearance and privileges are also required.
