Job summary

New York City Housing Authority seeks a Housing Assistant to support tenancy operations across multiple boroughs. You will assist in resolving tenancy problems, respond to complaints, collect rent and arrears, and perform income verifications for rent determinations.

You will interview residents, verify information, inform tenants of NYCHA rules, conduct field visits for rent collection and housing surveys, and participate in lease reviews and hearings as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required.
An associate degree with 1 year housing management experience is acceptable.
High school diploma with 3 years housing management experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

Assist in tenancy problem resolution; respond to complaints; collect rent and arrears.
Interview residents; investigate and verify information.
Inform tenants of Housing Authority rules and requirements.
Perform income and employment verifications for rent determinations.
Conduct field visits for rent collection and housing surveys, etc.
Perform rentals and complete annual/interim reviews.
Process lease renewals and contract rent changes.
Attend administrative hearings and make court appearances.
