Job summary

The City of New York invites applications for the Housing Assistant (HA) — 80201. In this role you will assist in tenancy management, respond to complaints, collect rents, and conduct income verifications to determine rent and eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Associate degree plus one year housing management experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent with three years relevant experience.
• Equivalency combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the resolution of tenancy problems; respond to complaints; collect rent and rent arrears.
• Interview residents; investigate, and verify information obtained.
• Inform tenants of Housing Authority rules, regulations and requirements.
• Perform income and employment verifications for rent determination.
• Conduct field visits for rent collection/home visits regarding housekeeping concerns/windows guards/air condition surveys, etc.
• Perform rentals and complete annual/interim reviews.
• Perform case reviews and/or process lease renewals/contract rent changes.
• Attend administrative hearings.
• Make court appearances.

Education

Baccalaureate degree

Associate degree + 1 year housing management experience

High school diploma + 3 years experience

Equivalency based on education and experience
