Job summary

State of Nebraska is hiring winter temporary Highway Maintenance Workers to perform snow removal and winter operations in Alliance, Bridgeport, Chadron, Chappell, Crawford, Gering, Gordon, Harrison, Kimball, Oshkosh, and Sidney. Positions are temporary until March 31, 2027.

Starting pay is $20.39 per hour; with a valid CDL the rate starts at $21.95 per hour. Hours may vary with weather conditions and assignments across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license (for Highway Maintenance Worker).
• For Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior: possession of a Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Help with Winter Operations.
• Perform snow removal.
• Perform heavy equipment operation for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, load, and unload equipment and materials from the roadway within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
