Join us as a Temporary Summer Maintenance Assistant at Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS)

We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant for a full-time temporary summer position at Rochester Homestead, part of VOANS. The role involves preventative maintenance, painting, and repairs inside and outside the facility to ensure a safe, attractive, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Position Details

• Pay: $18.62 to $22.26 per hour
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks and preventive maintenance services
• Maintain floors and carpets, including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, and vacuuming
• Strip, wax, and polish floors
• Clean walls, ceilings, and lighting fixtures
• Manage trash disposal and waste receptacles
• Report supply or equipment needs to supervisors
• Store supplies securely and handle toxic substances safely

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, identify chemicals, and understand safety guidelines
• Willingness to perform routine tasks with interruptions
• At least two years of building maintenance experience preferred
• Knowledge of building, plumbing, and electrical codes
• Ability to use technical manuals and handle tools
• Decision-making skills in emergencies
• Proficiency with computers and electronic devices
• Flexibility to work during emergencies or on-call
