June 2025 - August 2025 Temporary Summer Custodial Maintenance Assistant

Position Details

• Hourly Rate: $19.00 per hour (starting), commensurate with experience for returning assistants
• Work Schedule: First work day on or after 6/4/2025; last work day on or before 8/17/2025
• Days Off: 2 holidays: Wednesday 6/19/2025 and Friday 7/4/2025
• Daily Schedule: As assigned by supervisor(s); approximately 7+ hours per day

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate well with staff, students, parents, and visitors
• Knowledge of cleaning methods
• Walk and stand on flooring up to 1-2 miles a day
• Lift 50 pounds
• Move furniture weighing up to 50 pounds
• Bend and twist regularly at the waist, knees, and neck
• Reliable
• Follow directions
• Work independently and as part of a team
• School custodian experience preferred

Reports To

Building Head Custodian(s) and Director of Buildings & Grounds

Performance Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining all aspects of the school building, including floors, bathrooms, classrooms, drinking fountains, locker rooms, windows, fixtures, and cabinets
• Replenishing supplies such as tissue, towels, and soaps
• Maintaining security of the building and property, including locking and unlocking doors
• Reporting issues to the head custodian
• Emptying trash and recyclable materials
• Setting up and tearing down meeting rooms
• Assisting with summer cleaning tasks like carpet cleaning, floor stripping and refinishing, changing lightbulbs, and light painting
