Job description

Come join our team as a Maintenance Assistant at Rochester Homestead! We offer generous benefits and a positive work environment.

Rochester Homestead is part of Volunteers of America National Services, serving as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the parent organization.

Pay: $18.62 to $22.26

Schedule: Full-time temporary summer position, M-F with occasional weekends.

*LTC or Nursing Home Experience Preferred*

About the job:

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for preventative maintenance, painting, and repairs inside and outside the facility to ensure a safe, attractive, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Essentials:

1. Perform cleaning tasks and preventative maintenance services.
2. Sweep, mop, wash/shampoo floors and vacuum carpets in common areas.
3. Strip, wax, and polish floors according to schedule.
4. Wash walls, ceilings, and lighting fixtures.
5. Transport and dispose of trash.
6. Clean waste receptacles.
7. Notify supervisor of supply or equipment needs.
8. Store supplies securely and properly labeled.
9. Store toxic substances safely and locked away when not in use.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to understand and follow instructions, read labels, and handle chemicals safely.
3. Willingness to perform routine tasks with interruptions.
4. At least two years of building maintenance experience preferred.
5. Knowledge of building, plumbing, and electrical codes.
6. Ability to interpret technical manuals.
7. Good coordination and dexterity with tools.
8. Decision-making ability in emergencies.
9. Proficiency with computers and electronic devices.
10. Flexible hours, including during emergencies or on-call situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the healthcare industry.
