Job summary

The New School’s College of Performing Arts seeks a Temporary Overhire Assistant Stage Manager to support concerts and events on campus. You will report to the Event Production Manager and help ensure smooth production operations for all shows.

Responsibilities include coordinating stage moves, backstage activities, artist entrances, paperwork management, and backing up the Stage Manager during soundchecks and performances. This is an on-site, as-needed role with the potential for renewal.

Qualifications

• One year of assistant stage management or three years as a production assistant.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to develop creative approaches to complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills including teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
• Time and task management; ability to work under strict time constraints.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, WorkDay, Asimut and 25Live.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, manage and distribute show paperwork in collaboration with the Stage Manager/Production Manager.
• Manage onstage and backstage activities including stage moves and artist wrangling.
• Communicate with creative team, cast and crew.
• Be familiar with all stage management responsibilities on a production.
• Supervise stage crew including student workers (as needed).
• Manage backstage spaces including backstage wings, green room(s) and artist holding.
• Spike furniture and other items.
• Other duties related to the successful execution of the event as assigned.
