Job summary

The New School's College of Performing Arts is seeking a Wardrobe Supervisor to join its Performance Operations – Costume Department. This on-campus, overhire position collaborates with designers and production staff to realize the vision while ensuring student safety.

Responsibilities include supervising overhire wardrobe crew, attending load-in/strike and rehearsals, laundering garments, and maintaining dressing rooms.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Wardrobe Supervisor experience.
• 2 years of Theatrical Wardrobe experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in a professional environment.
• Basic knowledge of hand sewing, machine sewing and serging.
• Team-oriented problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers, creative teams, and production crew.
• Delegate responsibilities to overhire wardrobe crew and supervise in the absence of the Costume Shop Manager.
• Attend load in and strike, as well as all technical rehearsals and performances.
• Launder rehearsal and production garments and manage dry cleaning.
• Cultivate safety and comfort in dressing rooms, quick-change areas, and fitting rooms.
• Uphold professional demeanor in challenging situations, especially with students present.
• Follow notes documents, paying close attention to shop management’s instructions.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
