Job summary

The New School seeks an experienced Overhire Stage Manager to support Parsons, Mannes, Jazz, Drama productions in NYC. The role involves creating show paperwork, calling cues, and coordinating with production teams for smooth events.

This is an on-site, as-needed position with an hourly rate of $35. The candidate will manage stage operations, supervise assistants, and participate in advance meetings to ensure successful performances.

Qualifications

• 1 year in production stage management or 3 years as assistant stage manager.
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Interpersonal skills including teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
• Leadership under pressure with attention to detail.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and distribute show paperwork with the Production Manager.
• Call lighting, projections, sound, and deck cues per run-of-show timelines.
• Keep soundchecks and performances on schedule.
• Oversee onstage/backstage activities, stage moves, and crew coordination.
• Communicate with all teams to ensure cohesive production execution.
• Direct and supervise the Assistant Stage Manager(s) and student crew.
• Attend advance meetings for event preparation.
