Job summary

State of Minnesota’s Transportation Department seeks Temporary Snowplow Operators for MnDOT District 6A across multiple district truck stations.

These emergency, intermittent roles involve night/day shifts (A/B), potential overtime, and reporting within one hour of call. CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months may be needed; pre-employment drug testing and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction; tanker endorsement within 6 months may be required.
• Must pass pre-placement drug test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, MDMA/MDA/MDEA and 6‑AM; background checks.
• Must be able to report to work within one hour of being called.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and understand information; logs and records maintained.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory/resource management.
• Performs traffic control setups and/or notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
