Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators in the Transportation Department. Multiple locations in District 6A will fill up to 32 temporary or emergency snowplow operator roles in snow and ice operations.

Shifts include A or B snow shifts, with potential overtime and nights, weekends, and holidays. CDL with tanker endorsement required within 6 months; pre-placement drug test and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state and obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement into the position and maintain it as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
