Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools in Vancouver, Washington is seeking a Temporary Elementary School Building Operator to oversee the swing shift custodial team and maintain HVAC and building systems. The role starts immediately and follows an 8-hour day, 12-month schedule with non-exempt status.

You will schedule staff, inspect work, order supplies, and collaborate with school leadership to ensure safe, clean facilities, providing guidance and training as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years experience as a custodial assistant or swing shift custodian.
• Good mechanical aptitude with HVAC understanding.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Certifications: WISHA first aid, ISSAS district training.

Responsibilities

• Schedule swing shift custodial staff and train them in duties.
• Operate HVAC system and write work orders for maintenance.
• Inspect building, grounds, and equipment for safety; perform minor repairs.
• Advise principal on mechanical equipment and maintenance matters.
• Inventory and order cleaning supplies; ensure supplies are available.
• Lead and support crews to meet cleaning and maintenance standards.
