Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools District Wide in Vancouver, Washington seeks a Substitute Custodial Assistant to perform cleaning and facilities support. The role is swing shift, on-call 4–8 hours daily, with potential day or night variation.

Starting immediately, you may operate HVAC and assist with after-school events. Qualifications include a high school diploma, custodial experience, mechanical aptitude, and active WISHA first aid and ISSAS training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a custodian or related experience demonstrating cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
• Good mechanical aptitude; ability to learn HVAC and campus systems.
• Maintain WISHA approved first aid certification.
• Current ISSAS district training and certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks in rest rooms, cafeteria, floors, carpets, walls, furniture; empty trash; refill dispensers; use power tools or hazardous chemicals safely.
• Inspect building, grounds, and equipment for safety; make temporary repairs and write work orders for further repairs.
• Prepare facilities for after-school activities; set up chairs and tables; secure building after activities; check doors and windows.
• Operate HVAC system in the building when swing shift custodian is not assigned.
• Performs duties of head custodian or other custodial positions when necessary.
• Treat co-workers, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times.
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate expected student behaviors.
• Work flexibly and cooperatively; take on additional tasks as assigned.
