Job summary

Camden County College (CCC) invites applications for a Temporary Part-time: HVAC Apprenticeship Instructor at the Blackwood Campus. The role focuses on delivering high-quality HVAC instruction to Level 1–4 apprentices during evening sessions, following an approved curriculum and hands-on lab work.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, organizing materials, assessing student progress, and staying current with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication for reports, evaluations, and documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • Journeyperson HVACR experience or NJ Master HVACR Contractor License or registered apprenticeship required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Position Goals
  • Career and Technical Institute Instructor for HVAC Apprenticeship will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and will deliver high‑quality classroom and hands‑on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry‑relevant training materials to prepare students for advancement within the HVAC industry.

Job Description
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum on a daily basis.
  • Develop lesson plans that support student learning outcomes and workforce readiness.

  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, including grading and attendance tracking.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback on student performance, behavior and participation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry standards, laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, and integrate this knowledge into daily instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student behavior and instructional progress.
  • Model professionalism, reliability, and respect to contribute to a positive school culture.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations and document student progress.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Field‑related license/certification including, but not limited to, OSHA 10 certification.
  • Journeyperson‑level HVACR experience, possession of a New Jersey Master HVACR Contractor License, or successful completion of a registered HVACR apprenticeship (including a registered union apprenticeship) is required.
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires mobility throughout the campus.
  • Dexterity in working with computers is mandatory.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while teaching in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move electrical‑related equipment or training materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools and training equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb and reach when demonstrating equipment installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
