Job summary

Camden County College is seeking a Temporary Part-time Carpentry Instructor to deliver hands-on and classroom carpentry instruction at Camden County Technical School in Sicklerville, NJ. The role supports our Workforce Training and Continuing Education programs, using NCCER-aligned curricula and industry-standard tools.

Requirements include 5 years in carpentry, OSHA 10 certification, and strong communication skills. Evening classes run September–May, 6:30pm–10:30pm, Tue/Wed/Thu.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations, document student progress and email students and staff.
  • Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED .
  • Field-related license/certification including, but not limited to, OSHA 10 certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in residential and commercial carpentry through NCCER , union apprenticeship completion, contractor licensure, military training, or comparable industry-recognized certification is preferred.

  • Career and Technical Institute Instructor for Carpentry Technology will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry-relevant training materials to prepare students for entry-level employment within the field of Carpentry.

Job Description

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • This position requires mobility throughout the campus.

  • Dexterity in working with computers is mandatory.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while teaching in a classroom and lab settings.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move programrelated equipment or training materials up to 50lbs.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools and training equipment.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb and reach when demonstrating framing, finish carpentry, layout techniques, or other construction procedures.
